Welcome to the IC engine section. |
|
I'm looking forward to having some really good discussions on all those dorky bits that make the difference between domestic and import power density. Things like volumetric efficiencies, discharge coefficients, port velocities, rod ratios, mechanical efficiencies and all those other good things.
Don't get me wrong, I love domestics when they do it right and make 2000+whp
First things I'm looking to have done:
-Flow bench numbers on the USDM and JDM big port heads and USDM wrx if I can get mine off soon enough. With updates as oversized valves and porting occur.
-Oil pump differences in 9mm(ej18 and ej22), 10mm (RS and turbo models) and the 12mm (JDM AVCS turbo motors).
-effects of pressure ratio on power
-a write up on basic gas dynamics and manifold tuning
-Micah

any updates on the pump shizzle?
Speaking of domestics... after I get the RS rebuilt again from the ground up, I'm getting a 79 ish chevy pickup. Then I'm dropping a twin turbo V8 in it with a power goal of 1200hp on pump gas. I figure not only would that be a beautiful project, it would be an excellent example of our building and tuning abilities.

yeah, my importers haven't had any luck but I know several people satationed over there and are going to give them the car model it came on and see if they can get it from the dealership.
as for the twin turbo truck...that will be bad ass and will have a useless bed, well if you want traction anyway

The bed will have a cover on it to aid in the aerodynamics of the truck. Under the cover will be the fuel cell starting just in front of the rear axle. Also, you'll have the larger wheel wells (tubbed, not quite a "bath tub").I was also thinking of a special routing of air in the bottom of the bed behind the axle, through a radiator and out the tailgate with angled louvres for some downforce. Also to leave room for a large IC up front. Hard steel pipes inside the C channel of the frame will transport coolant from the front to the rear and back. This increases my cooling system volume and helps lower the size of radiator that will be needed.
I am going to try two suspension and tire setups with the truck. one for drag racing and one for road racing.
I am also contemplating keeping the truck 4WD to aid in traction and power delivery. However, that would make my transmission choice very crucial... and expensive.

will do.
However, the truck that I have acquired is not a 79. It is a 57. It's sitting at my mom's house in Idaho right now.
